This afternoon I did a final photoshoot for a litt This afternoon I did a final photoshoot for a little family that's moving out of state within the month. I'd taken photos every three months during the first year of their little boy's life, and he just turned one. I'm sure going to miss them and will look forward to watching him grow up via photos on Facebook going forward.

Upon leaving, I intended to go sit at a coffee shop for awhile. It's one of my little getaways I love to do when my husband is on the road. And coffee is one of my favorite things.

But traffic was heavy getting out of their neighborhood, and getting into the lane I needed more of a challenge than I cared to attempt. It was just easier to come home.

I made myself a cup of coffee and sat on my back deck instead. Upper 60s, windy, partly cloudy, and a whole lot of peaceful. Truthfully, it was probably for the best... I will be working the next four days, craving a cup of coffee and quiet time at home. I am soaking up this time. Enjoying the moment.

For anyone interested in any of my photography, you can find it over at @denisemattoxphotography ... I'm currently doing a photo-a-day challenge to remind myself what it's like to shoot just for fun. I'll post today's image over there shortly. When I finish this cup of coffee...

Date night seeing The Eagles. Never, ever, ever Date night seeing The Eagles.

Never, ever, ever thought I'd see this band live. I might have cried when they played their first downbeat of Hotel California.

Ask any Texan, and they'll tell you there's a magi Ask any Texan, and they'll tell you there's a magic that happens when the bluebonnets bloom. It reaches into their souls, and it brings a joy that has no verbal description.

I can't deny, I was as excited to see bluebonnets as anything else this last week. It reminds me of my roots. They bring a smile to my face and hearts to my eyes. They just mean something.

Texas, I love you. You are a part of me on all the best ways. And it's always so hard to say good-bye. That's why it's always, "Til next time."

Nashville, I'm coming for you. See you in a few hours.

Today she snagged one of me and my brother (her dad) and I just love it. I love the nostalgia a Polaroid instantly gives a photo, and I love that she's capturing these memories for us all.

What an amazing Easter with family. I have so much to be deeply thankful for... ❤️✝️🐇

I used to go to concerts practically every month a I used to go to concerts practically every month and stand side-stage, all to spend time with my husband. I've made so many miles chasing him and whatever bus he was on with whatever artist. (Sometimes literally following them to a venue, LOL!) Way, way back in the day I'd even ride with him, sleeping in a bunk with him.

It's been a few years since I had the chance to attend a show to see him. Between work and COVID shut-downs, it's been a whole lot of nada for me.

The stars aligned this weekend.

I was in Texas for the final push of tax season and for Easter. I looked at the calendar and my husband was in Texas as well. Fate?

So just as I did so many times before, I hit the road and got to spend an incredible night with him. I have no idea when I'll get this opportunity again, so I soaked up every second.

 So many precious memories made.

Love.
My day started with a flight booked direct to Aust My day started with a flight booked direct to Austin, TX. That flight got cancelled, and I was rebooked to go through Atlanta, GA with a tight window to change planes. Upon arriving to BNA, I was rebooked to now having a quick stop (no plane change) in Chicago as a delay would have made me miss my connection in Atlanta. Whew!

I arrive in Austin 4 hours late, but I am going to make it. And I have a row to myself and a window seat. I'm good.

Life is always an adventure, that's for sure!
It was a rainy day. Literally and figuratively. It was a rainy day.

Literally and figuratively.

But we were gifted a gorgeous sunset to end the day, and it was so pretty I had to document it.

In late February, I signed up for a month-long ste In late February, I signed up for a month-long step challenge on Facebook for the month of March. It was a fundraiser for @mdaorg -- a cause near to my heart. 310,000 steps. 10k a day. Omph. A daunting challenge for someone who often has computer days where she only hits 2,000 steps. I figured at the time I would try, but if I didn’t make it to the end, that would just be on me.

I posted the fundraiser, with the basic goal of $200 suggested by Facebook. I didn’t think anyone would really notice, so whatever.

But people noticed. And they started donating. We hit that $200 goal. So I bumped my goal to $310… $10 for every day of March.

I hadn’t even taken my first step, and already I had supporters. I was excited! And thankful! But I also was going, “Well… shit. Now I have to actually do this.” 😂

Over the course of 31 days, through generous donations, I bumped my financial goal even higher and $405 was raised for MDA through my fundraiser page. I can not begin to tell you all what that means to me… Your donations will help so many dealing with Muscular Dystrophy, and your donations helped ME…

MDA and your donations gave me the determination to finish this challenge. Over the course of the last 31 days, there were only 2 days that I didn’t hit 10,000 steps… and both of those were by only around 500 steps. I end the month with 323,340 steps. I not only made it to 310,000…. I went 13,000+ over that goal.

This is the most active month I've had since I started wearing a Fitbit in 2014. The closest I have ever had was 256,500 steps in May 2017. This was a REALLY BIG DEAL.

I’m proud of myself. The scale hasn’t budged 🤷🏼‍♀️, but my husband says he sees a difference in how my clothes fit. I will continue doing 10,000 steps a day, but I’ll be a little easier on myself… after Easter. I plan to carry on with this challenge all of Lent.

This was sincerely a challenge I went into deep down expecting to fail. But to instead say I did it? That’s huge to me.
