If you would have told me 21 years ago... back whe If you would have told me 21 years ago... back when you had to be a "member" to drink at an establishment in Bell County, Texas... That someday I'd drink beer brewed in Belton, Tx, and that I'd find my way into a speakeasy just a block from the Bell County Courthouse, I'd have laughed and laughed and laughed...

...and yet here we are. My how times have changed.

One thing that hasn't changed: my friendship with these women. They have been and continue to be a strong constant in my life. 🫶🏼 And for that, I am deeply thankful.

Henry got microchipped and was informed he's overweight at 21 lbs. River (who was chipped last year) now weighs 10 lbs., and what we thought was a seroma post-spay may actually be a hernia that we will just continue to monitor. Whew! They have every reason to be lazy tonight.

Tonight, I helped photograph this year's event the day after my radiation oncologist "cut me loose." I LOVE this event, and hearing the stories of the women being honored is always SO inspiring.

It’s my one year Cancerversary. One year ago, It’s my one year Cancerversary.

One year ago, sitting at Cracker Barrel with my parents and my husband, my phone rang and I heard the words, “It’s cancer.”

What immediately followed was a feeling of the world imploding and stopping all at the same time. Fear. Grief. Sadness. Confusion. Fear. Then eventually sheer determination.

Sheer determination to be right here. Right now. One year later still standing. One year later on the cusp of finishing treatment. One year later having heard the words, “There was no cancer left,” after surgery.

I’m still not 100% strength-wise, but I’m getting there. I have residual side effects and pain that I might be dealing with for a long time to come. I’ve been beaten up by treatment, but I’m still standing. I’m more thankful and determined than ever before in my life.

Here’s to having gotten through THE hardest year of my life. 🍻

New 'do, who dis? I've seen it time and time agai New 'do, who dis?

I've seen it time and time again in my cancer groups, and I can confirm personally: one of the hardest parts of cancer treatment is losing your hair. Because it's never "just hair."

For better or worse, especially as women, we put a lot of emphasis on our hair. And losing it just feels like you lose a part of yourself. You look in the mirror and are instantly reminded you're sick.

I opted to wear a wig, and it meant a LOT to me to do so. People who didn't know... Didn't know. I wasn't treated any differently. I looked in the mirror, and I was looking back at myself.

It was an empowering day the day I stopped wearing my wig. Today was another empowering day.

My first hair appointment since my hair started to grow back. Thank you, thank you, thank you @galileegracehair @galileebarlow for working your magic. For taking such care of me. For giving me a boost of confidence and making me feel amazing. Sassy. Stylish. I love it and you.

Swipe to see a before image and how dark my hair came in... Loving this new shade and so happy to have shape and style again!!! 🙌🏼
